Job Title: Senior Support Worker

Location: Children's Home, Sutton Coldfield

Salary: £14.20 per hour PLUS £500 Welcome Bonus!

Hours: Full-time, shift-based (including weekends and evenings)

Job Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our team at a children's home based in Sutton Coldfield. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and nurturing children and young people, ensuring their safety, well-being, and personal development in a caring, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Supervision:
oProvide day-to-day leadership to support staff, ensuring high standards of care and support are maintained.
oAssist in the training, development, and mentoring of junior staff members.
oEnsure the smooth running of shifts, including effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities.
oAct as a role model for other staff, promoting a positive and inclusive culture.
• Child-Centered Care:
oBuild positive, trusting relationships with the children and young people, understanding their individual needs and helping them to achieve their potential.
oImplement and monitor care plans tailored to each child, ensuring they receive consistent, personalised care.
oSupport the emotional, physical, and social development of the children, encouraging their participation in educational and recreational activities.
• Safeguarding and Compliance:
oEnsure all safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to, maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
oMonitor and report on the progress and welfare of the children, completing necessary documentation and reports.
oAssist in the preparation for inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with Ofsted standards and other regulatory requirements.
• Crisis Management:
oManage challenging situations effectively, including de-escalating conflicts and addressing behavioural issues.
oProvide support during incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of all involved, and complete accurate incident reports.
• Collaboration and Communication:
oWork closely with the management team, social workers, educational staff, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to each child's care.
oParticipate in meetings, reviews, and planning sessions to contribute to the development and implementation of care strategies.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Essential:
oAt least 2-3 years of experience working in a similar role within a residential childcare setting.
oNVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
oStrong understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
oProven ability to lead and motivate a team.
oExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Desirable:
oExperience working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
oFirst Aid, Team Teach, or similar certification.
oKnowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in residential childcare.
