Amber Mace are delighted to have an opportunity for the right candidate to become part of a small nursing team overseeing the healthcare needs for children and young people aged 5-25 at a school based near Thatcham.
In conjunction with the Care Management Team, the new nurse will take responsibility for the medical care for the children and young adults; monitoring their health and wellbeing including general nursing duties. You will work to build effective working relationships across the organisation and with external medical professionals specifically the school doctor, hospital based specialists, CAMHS etc and keep abreast of research and development within autism and associated health needs.
Key responsibilities
To support the young peoples medical appointments as and when required
To keep all nursing records up-to-date both paper documents and electronically and to keep parents informed of any changes or concerns relating to medical requirements
To maintain medical stock supplies
To monitor, record, collect and maintain accurate supplies of prescribed medication for individuals
To monitor and maintain relevant accident books
To maintain supplies for First Aid Kits
To be responsible for the nursing department and all equipment necessary for promoting the health and well being of the young people.
To provide relevant training for staff to support complex needs of children and young adults.
To complete medical audits, in conjunction with the homes management, within the residential homes
To ensure practices are monitored, reviewed and any requirements are set out within an action plan
To ensure the young peoples parents, and people involved within their circle of support are kept up to date with any changes and / updates to their childs health and wellbeing requirements.
Skills/ Qualifications:
Hold a current Nurse pin
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Have a clear and thorough knowledge of the CQC standards.
A commitment to patient-centred care and to values-based and evidence-based practice
